I've been hearing good things about LCD Soundsystem...
On Tuesday I bought:
* Kino -- "Picture" (haven't had time to listen to more than a few tracks but it has a pleasing It Bites sound. I had feared this would sound like another Transatlantic.)
* Interpol -- "Antics" (Stunning. They've taken their influences of The Cure, Joy Division and such and fashioned their own unique and fresh sound. Titanic choruses. A mysterious vibe throughout. If you get to a listening post then check out tracks 3, 4, and 5.)
On Tuesday I'll be buying the new albums by Doves and The Mars Volta...

Dungen - Stadsvandringar (great contemporary Swedish psychedelic folk, CD is OOP (Out of print) )
Kino - Picture LTD edition. (very nice, better than expected)
Porcupine tree - Signify (Ark US promo CD, which fills another gap in my collection.)
The soft machine - Kings of Canterbury 2-CD (my first Soft Machine... )

Tori Amos - The Beekeeper LTD ed w/bonus DVD. (not as good as her previous CDs....)

Elegy - Lost. A second hand copy of this Dream Theater like band.

Well, that's disappointing to hear, considering the same could be said about her last couple cds (imho).

I haven't picked up The Beekeeper yet and am now wondering whether to or not.
I did quite like Scarlet's Walk but it was seriously overlong with too much filler. I am however, not a typical Tori fan as I rate Choirgirl Hotel and Venus as her best albums.

I just bought Variations on a Dream by Pineapple Thief. I was looking into new music and I saw quite a few people mention this band on the last forum. Out of curiosity, I checked out the samples on their website. I liked what I heard alot. Hopefully I should be receiving the album soon. Can't wait.
I'm not a huge Tori Amos fan though I like a few songs here and there (I much prefer Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Bjork, and Toni Childs). My wife has a copy of The Beekeeper, however, and it's actually pretty good, if a too long at 20 songs. This album has less histrionics than usual and is a little bit more in the vein of Sarah McLachlan. Surprised how many catchy melodies are on this one.

I'm conflicted on this. I'm a hardcore Tori fan, with many CDs and concerts under my belt. Beekeeper to me is a little too subdued for Tori, missing a little fire. Also, the production is a little too...accessible, if you know what I mean. Too FM friendly for my tastes.
For reference, I don't have a favorite album per se, but my most loved songs include (in a reverse chronological order) A Sorta Fairytale, Wednesday, Juarez, Lust, Raspberry Swirl, Cruel, Iieee, Caught a Lite Sneeze, Hey Jupiter, God, Past the Mission, Cornflake Girl, Crucify, Precious Things, Winter...well, it's pretty hard, it's like trying to list my favorite PT songs.
To be frank, I think Beekeeper is rubbish - dull songs, dull production, none of the inventiveness displayed on previous albums (I too am a Choirgirl/Venus fan). She just seems to be descending into MOR pap these days.
Sorry if I've offended but that's just what it sounds like to me.

Variations is absolutely brilliant. 'Vapour Trails' and 'Remember Us' are especially brilliant. It is by favourite 'thief album to date.
My most recent purchase is:
Doves - 'Some Cities'
This band for me just keep producing great albums. Their previous effort 'The Last Broadcast' was excellent, and the new one is just as good. It has a more gritty, urban feel. They recorded one of the songs in a monestry. Recommended.
Seconded! 'Variations...' is excellent, to the extent that '12 Stories Down' was a bit of a disappointment, by comparison.
If anyone is considering buying just one P-Thief album, I'd recommend 'Variations...', and I'd recommend buying it direct from Bruce himself. I think he's still offering free postage worldwide, but check the P-Thief website.

Yes, I bought it directly from their website.
I've read some reviews and some say they sound like a mixture of PT, Radiohead and Smashing Pumkins. That's possible but overall I think they have a sound of their own.
On a side note, I decided to look into some Radiohead but I'm not sure if it's my cup of tea. Anybody Radiohead fans here and if so what album would be the one to look into??
I just purchased The Watch "Vacuum". I'm still waiting on it's arrival.

Try the Internet Music Archive and listen to a few shows first. They're pretty accurate. Actually, on second though I don't know if they're on there. I have discs of them live at Coachella last year but I think I got them from the old Sharing the Groove website. They sound completely different with each release, going from "grungy" to "electronic-y"

Right. That's why I'm unsure of which album to try first. I would probably be into the grungy sound more.
There is a website (divels foot) that has some live shows. I'll go over there and check it out. Thanks.
